Post-doc position in European research project INTERAQCT
Post-doc position in European research project INTERAQCT
Experienced Researcher (ER) position for CT-based quality control of customized porous
structures (KU Leuven, Belgium)
Description: ER 1 will be hired in the first half of the project, and will be involved in the training of ESR
6 and 9 and in the PMT. In addition, you will work on quality control of customized porous structures (e.g.
for porous implants), which is an emerging application of AM. You will investigate how the use of highresolution
CT for can be used to quantify the robustness and controllability of the production of porous
structures produced by AM techniques and treated by subsequent surface modification techniques. A
particular point of attention is to reveal the roughness caused by non–melted powder grains attached to
the surface. The protocol for the quantitative analysis of the surface morphology which has
been developed at KUL will be used. This protocol for surface roughness measurement will show the
influence of different surface modification procedures on the strut and node surface morphology. Hence,
by applying an appropriate surface modification after production, the material properties can be
homogenized and optimized according to specific requirements of surface roughness. You will benefit
from direct cooperation with industrial associated partner LayerWise who uses SLS for making such
porous structures.
Eligibility and mobility criteria: At the time of recruitment you are in possession of a doctoral degree or
you have at least 4 years of research experience and you are still within the first five years (or full-time
equivalent) of your career in research; AND you have not resided, worked or studied in Belgium for more
than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the time of recruitment.
Secondments: During this project, you will do a secondment (of a few months) to LayerWise (Belgium)
Duration: 16 months
Envisaged job starting date: as soon as possible.
Application: To apply, provide (in English, in pdf): 1) a letter of interest (including motivation relevant to
the research topic), 2) your detailed curriculum vitae (including study curriculum rankings,
relevant research experience and publications), 3) your diploma and transcripts (including translation if
possible), 4) two references and their full contact information, 5) English language proficiency test results
(if available).
