The team for you to join

We are looking for an experienced Application Scientist to join our Fresh Dairy Projects and Competences Department in Hørsholm, Denmark. We are part of the Global Dairy Application organization within Chr. Hansen’s largest business unit, Food Cultures and Enzymes. 

With the announcement of our new strategy, we are expanding the Fresh Dairy Global Application capacity and activities to support new product development and strengthen our application competences within the core Fresh Dairy space. You will join a team of 4 scientists and 4 technicians and report to the Fresh Dairy Projects & Competences Department Manager. The department is one of four departments of the Fresh Dairy organization consisting in total of close to 40 employees situated in Denmark, France and USA.

In the Fresh Dairy Projects & Competences department, we develop bacterial and enzymatic solutions for the dairy industry. We are experts in the application of starter cultures, probiotic cultures with strong clinical documentation as well as dairy enzymes and work with our customers to develop and produce tasty and innovative fermented milk products. At the interface between the Chr. Hansen natural products and the dairy customers of the world, the Projects & Competences team works in close collaboration with R&D as well as the Commercial and Sales organizations at Chr. Hansen.  

 

What would your role look like?

As senior scientist in the Projects and Competences team, you will:

  • Drive the application work related to the development of new cultures and enzyme solutions to expand Chr. Hansen’s own product portfolio or for customized solutions for specific customers
  • Have a central role in translating the market and customer needs into product characteristics and will work closely with R&D to develop such solutions
  • Demonstrate how the combined use of Chr. Hansen products, dairy ingredients and technology can result in innovative solutions for our customers
  • Ensure a high and relevant level of application knowledge and expertise and work to develop strong competences in areas that are key to the fresh dairy space. 

 

Who are we looking for?

For this role it is important for us that you hold a PhD/MSc in food/dairy/bioscience & technology or equivalent (mandatory) and you have minimum 3-5 years of industrial experience within dairy or food space preferably working with dairy enzymes, lactic acid bacteria cultures, probiotics and/or dairy ingredients.



In addition, you:

  • Preferably have experience with experimental design, data analysis and/or project management
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Enjoy working in an international environment and have multicultural understanding
  •  Are creative, energetic and capable of making things work to ensure progress with a focus on results and quality 

You should furthermore be willing to travel expectedly around 25 days/year.
