Role Summary

The Proofreader position is a tactical role that performs proofreading on a variety of marketing materials, including collateral, direct mail, email and websites. The incumbent must possess a strong knowledge of the AP Style Guide, American English grammar, punctuation, spelling and the financial services sector. Must be detailed oriented, have hands-on experience in a communications environment coordinating multiple projects, and understand print and digital writing best practices. The individual must also possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Job Responsibilities: 

The role primarily focuses on the following goals and objectives:

  • Proofread all communications materials to ensure they are error free
  • Advise writers, design team, work flow, and business partners with regards to QA standards
  • Assure consistency across all written retirement materials
  • Understand and support implementation of WCAG standards and best practices across channels
  • Proactively manage project deliverables ensuring projects deliver on time
  • Gain an understanding of and support adherence to Prudential and client style guides
  • Ability to copyedit is a plus

Main hours will be Monday to Friday 11am to 7pm.

Travel to the US may be required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years proofreading experience, preferably within financial services
  • Detail oriented with an understanding that proofing goes beyond checking spelling and grammar
  • Understanding of WCAG requirements a plus
  • Understanding of best practices across delivery channels
  • Extensive working knowledge of software programs such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft products. Knowledge of Adobe CC and ability to make small edits a plus.
  • A high standard of visual and editorial judgment based on substantial experience gained in communications environment
  • A high level of interpersonal skills as well as the ability to advise stakeholders
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to balance often conflicting demands
