We are looking for a Product Safety Expert to Project Engineering in Wärtsilä Energy Business. The Product Safety Expert will manage the process discipline in Power Plant development, customer delivery projects, starting from supporting the sales, activities until warranty end. This position will be reporting to Manager, Product Safety.



Product Safety Expert is responsible for the whole safety for a defined part of the scope in project execution towards the Project Manager for the project, who is responsible for the whole project including all disciplines (electrical, mechanical and civil parts). The task is to maintain the scope of work on own area such as requirement collection, engineering phase and procurements and coordination of safety studies.

The location for this position is Vaasa, Finland.



Responsibilities

  • Safeguard that safety in design are executed according to contract specifications and design directives as a member of a project team
  • Participate in negotiations with customer and authorities regarding product safety
  • Making Risk assessment based on EN ISO 12100 for Wärtsilä designed products and ensure compliance to machine directive, CE marking and supervise the process.
  • Make purchase specifications for safety studies and act as a supervisor for product safety to engineering partners and consultants
  • Co-operate product safety with the HSE team
  • Guide project organization how to comply to product safety directives such as machine directive.
  • Keep risk assessments for our standard portfolio of modules up to date.
  • Co-ordinate the safety design between sub-suppliers and follow-up of the delivery
  • Support our site team during installation and commission phases
  • Give feedback regarding technical solutions and complaints
  • Development of product safety
  • Developing the way of working for product safety in projects

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or higher in Engineering
  • Experience of making risk assessments based on EN ISO 12100 and experience of CE marking.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Being self-going and motivation to learn and grow professionally
  • Good communication, negotiations and team working skills
  • Willingness to travel as well as ability to understand and work with diverse cultures
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of process engineering
  • Good written and oral skills in English
  • Other earlier safety experience such as HSE, Process safety or Functional safety is seen as a benefit
