Assistant Grower

Gardenworld Nurseries produce an extensive range of specimen trees, hedging, shrubs and perennials in Ireland.

Job Description

• Under the direction of our Head Grower, manage all aspects of the Horticulture processes and procedures in your assigned area, including but not limited to: propagation, fertilization, irrigation, chemical application, plant maintenance and other crop needs on a daily basis.
• Manage daily crop care (watering, spraying, etc) efforts to maximize production and ensure proper techniques and sequence of tasks to benefit crop growth.
• Ensure targets and deadlines are met in our busy wholesale nursery environment
• Have a good understanding of pests and diseases
• Good knowledge of perennial plant production and seasonal potting requirements 
• Schedule for the coming season's requirements.
• Take charge of specific activities, areas or staff as delegated by the Head Grower / Managing Director.  
• Undertake any other nursery work when necessary. 

Skills & Requirements

• Enthusiasm and a passion for growing 
• A minimum of 1-3 years of direct experience with horticulture preferred 
• Ability to precisely follow directions
• Self-motivated, able to work without direct supervision
• High level of attention to detail
• A valid Driver’s license 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and multitask
