About Lilly in Ireland
Lilly’s first investment in Ireland began with the construction of a manufacturing facility in Dunderrow, close to Kinsale, County Cork in 1978.
The mission of the Kinsale facility is to support the development, manufacture and supply of many of the medicines in Lilly’s portfolio. The site uses advanced chemical and biological processes to produce a range of active pharmaceutical ingredients that produce a medical benefit. These products are further processed at various facilities to supply medicines to patients worldwide.
Today, Eli Lilly and Company employs over 700 people in Ireland spread between sales and marketing, medical, manufacturing and shared services for the global organisation.
Lilly’s Irish Sales, Marketing and Medical affiliate was established over thirty years ago to provide research-based prescription only medicines to patients in Ireland. The Lilly affiliate is based in Dublin.
The Lilly European Financial Shared Services Centre was established in Cork city in 2010 and is currently fully operational with 120 multilingual financial professionals. The centre supports Lilly’s European financial operations, providing general accounting and other specialised financial services.
Elanco is the Animal Health Division of Eli Lilly & Company. In 2010, Elanco diversified into the animal vaccine market with the purchase of a range of vaccines and a manufacturing facility in Sligo. This is a purpose-built, self-contained facility that manufactures a range of veterinary vaccines for both large and companion animals, mostly for the European market.
