Smart Technology Hub (STH), located in Vaskiluoto, Vaasa, will be the World-class Hub also for Smart Component Production and will be the forerunner for Production and Lifecycle support of key components of Wärtsilä products. The level of technology and complexity for machining process will be on the most sophisticated level in the Nordics, thus is critical to have a resource that could go through design and properly set them to be efficiently machined.



In this frame and to secure the Quality and Cost awareness of new products, we are searching for Design for Manufacturing / Machining Expert to extend the current expertise in Manufacturing Excellence organisation.



Location:



The position is to be filled in Vaasa, Finland.



Responsibilities

  • Co-operation and involvement in product development projects to secure the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for the new components and updates of design
  • Planning the machining methods and processes for components, including machine tools, fixings, machining time calculations, tools and other needed equipment, and communicating it forward to the different stakeholders
  • Supporting the sourcing and operative purchasing in component manufacturing, developing suppliers’ machining methods and finding root causes for machining failures and issues, and solutions for them
  • Participating the new NPI (New Product Introduction) projects as a team member and acting as a machining expert by giving support and feedback about machining related questions and bringing up the development ideas

Expectations

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering
  • Practical competence and experience from machining machine tools and technologies
  • Know-how in different component production technologies
  • A can-do positive approach and self-going attitude
  • An eye for details and a systematic approach
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Good team working ability and skills
  • Overall cost awareness
  • Systematic and organized way of working and problem solving skills
  • IT-skills such as MS Office are expected, SAP skills as benefit. Also CAD/CAM experience is appreciated.
  • Language skills: English (as the main working language), Finnish, other languages are seen as an advantage.
