Technical Services is a globally recognized technical knowledge centre within the Marine Power Business of Wärtsilä. Technical Services is providing technical expert services and support to external and internal customers during the life cycle of products and solutions delivered or serviced by Wärtsilä. 

 

We are currently seeking a (Senior) Technical Expert to strengthen our Gas Engine Automation team.

 

Position location can be in Finland (Vaasa, Turku) or Italy (Trieste).

 

In this position you will further deepen your skills in areas such as UNIC, UNIC2 and WECS engine control systems. Gas engine performance tuning and internal combustion optimisation are tasks that will part of a normal working day.

 

Responsibilities:

Give expert assistance: 

  • Technical support for internal and external customers
  • Support and assist in commissioning and troubleshooting in field. 
  • Engine software configuration and backup handling. 
  • Occasional training for internal and external customers 

 

Contribute to product improvement: 

  • Create field follow up material 
  • Participate in field tests 
  • Create feedback analyses, product reports.
  • Create service bulletins, spare part bulletins 
  • Conduct field surveys and make failure analysis and root cause analysis
  • Software testing and validation in test rig
  • Engine parameter handling and validation 

 

Expectations:

  • A genuine passion for engines and automation and a desire to make a difference
  • M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical, Automation or equivalent education
  • Systematic way of working and good analytical skills
  • Experience in commissioning of gas engines in field
  • Understanding the importance of quality
  • Good command of English, both oral and written
  • Team player mindset
  • Experience of Wecsplorer, WCT and UNITool software tools
  • Work experience of UNIC and WECS gas engines
  • Knowledge of gas engine performance tuning and internal combustion optimisation.
  • Readiness to travel (50-100 days / year)
