Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Sales & Operations Planning Manager for the Energy Storage & Optimization (ES&O) business. The role will be part of the ES&O Supply Management group and is based either in Finland (Helsinki, Turku or Vaasa) or US (Herndon, VA or remotely). 



As a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Manager within the Wärtsilä ES&O Supply Management organization, you will be responsible for the long-term demand and supply planning - ownership, leadership, and management of the complete S&OP process including management of the adherence to the monthly and quarterly cycles. 

A successful manager has a complete understanding of all nodal connections of an S&OP cycle, and the ability to coordinate with key process partners across the organization. To do this, on a monthly cycle, you will coordinate with Commercial and Product Management teams in the complete understanding and gathering of sales, project and product pipelines into a Demand Plan. Then, you will lead and coordinate with Supply Management team and with key external suppliers for translating such Demand Plan into a Supply/Capacity Plan and Forecast, which can be financially valued and summarized to drive the business imperative actions.

The S&OP Manager serves as the subject matter expert for demand planning, network optimization, and capacity planning while supporting various projects including; monthly demand and supply plans, MRP accuracy and improvement projects, sales and project strategy optimization, integration of new businesses, and new product launches.



Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead long-mid-short-term sales and operations planning process in our heavily growing energy storage business
  • Manage and lead S&OP process to help facilitate executive decision-making regarding supply risks, impact of demand on business and operations
  • Translate demand into supplier forecast and supply plans
  • Interfaces with our Commercial team to ensure alignment on drivers to demand and profiling of demand
  • Identify mid-to-long-term supply risks and major forecast changes for communication in the S&OP process and to determine impacts to capital expense
  • Conduct what-if analysis to create alternate scenarios for reconciling demand, supply, and financial plans.
  • Facilitates the S&OP and Executive S&OP reviews monthly, developing solutions and risk/benefits to the gaps for presentation and decision-making with executive leadership.
  • Provide training on S&OP processes and demand planning to the internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate across departments and functions on strategies to improve the demand planning/S&OP processes, leading improvement projects as necessary so that the company can better anticipate customer needs and handle customer requirements
  • Aid in the design, development, and implementation of improvements in our ERP/MRP systems, focused on an end to end business solution.

      

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree and advanced knowledge of Supply Chain Management
  • 5-8 years comprehensive experience in forecasting, demand planning or sales & operations planning in a S&OP leading role, including 3-5 years management experience
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills and attention to the details
  • Proven proficiency in data mining and forecasting methods, with an understanding of financial and operational impacts on process partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of management and to interface well with cross-functional teammates.
  • Passionate and high-energy leader with a diplomatic and cooperative style to positively influence others
  • Able to challenge the different functions (Sales and Supply) and ask / raise the correct questions, critical-thinking
  • Exceptional skills in assessing, summarizing, and presenting business or operational priorities and decision-points for effective, timely and efficient management/executive decision-making.
  • Experience on S&OP for growing businesses is not a must, but considered as an advantage
  • Working knowledge of ERP and planning systems, SAP preferred 
  • A proven leader, a record of building teams, strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and process-focused communication skills
  • Excellent English language (both orally and written)
