Irish Hospice Foundation have two newly created Head of Healthcare vacancies, as follows:

• The Head of Nursing Home Programmes (permanent contract) is an exciting new role, set up to deliver a new national programme in partnership with HSE and AIIHPC. The role will be responsible for the implementation of a national healthcare programme for palliative and end-of-life care in the nursing home sector. 

• The Head of Acute and Community Healthcare Programmes (initially 5 year contract) will augment vital work already underway and will strategically direct, lead and manage all aspects of healthcare programmes delivered in home, community and acute hospitals settings. Both roles report directly to the CEO and form a vital part of the SMT. The successful candidates will contribute to the overall management and strategic direction of the organisation, as well as taking responsibility for its healthcare portfolios.

Note: 

  • It is likely we will combine both roles (as above) in the early stages.
  • These are full-time vacancies,with a six month probation period, reporting to the CEO
  • The roles are office based - at the IHF’s offices on Nassau Street, Dublin 2
  • Travel to sites across Ireland is expected

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Relevant third level qualification 
  • Min. 7 years’ experience in a senior management position, ideally in a healthcare or related sector
  • Senior level strategic thinker with a record of achievement in the management of organisational development projects
  • Significant experience of planning and budgetary control
  • Background in, or demonstrable understanding of, quality improvement in health service delivery
  • Programme and project management experience with a strategic focus and experience of initiation and completion of programmes
  • Evidence of intersectoral and partnership working
  • Exceptional networker with strong existing personal network in the health sector
  • Demonstrable belief and understanding of the importance of palliative and end-of-life care
  • Strong advocate for quality end-of-life care and commitment to the work of the IHF
  • Understanding of Irish and international healthcare sector issues related to end-of-life care
  • Working understanding of both palliative care frameworks (model of care for palliative care) and HSE quality improvement frameworks.
