Talent Coastline - recruit and retain

Talent Coastline is an ecosystem coordinated by ELY-centre Ostrobothnia, Finland. It aims to shorten the gap between internationals and local companies in the regions of Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia. We use our networks and cooperate with public and private organizations to connect the businesses with the internationals. We provide tools and services to the companies who are interested in hiring international talent and we provide information and trainings to the internationals in cooperation with other public organizations and the local Education Institutions in order to boost their chances to find employment in Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia and Finland. 

The regions of Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia compose part of the western coast of Finland with a strong tradition of entrepreneurship and export industry. The energy sector is well represented in the whole area and the investments in the green transition by 2030 are estimated at over 15 billion euros. EnergyVaasa is the largest energy technology hub in the Nordic countries and a world leader within different technologies, such as smart electrical solutions, sustainable energy, flexible power generation and digitalisation. Kokkola offers companies an international operating environment with excellent logistic connections. The strategic top industries are chemical industry, cleantech, bioeconomy, boats and services, including RDI activities that support the business sectors. 

The area is very international in atmosphere but also when it comes to its population. The area is bilingual: of its approximately 240 000 inhabitants, 54 % are Finnish-speakers,  39 % Swedish-speakers and 7% of the inhabitants, coming from over 120 different countries, speak one of the almost hundred different languages represented in our region.

Here you can immerse yourself in the nature, visit the Kvarken Archipelago – the only UNESCO heritage site in Finland – and enjoy the fascinating culture and history of the western coast of Finland. The region is easy to reach by car, bus, train och plane - welcome!

In many municipalities there is a Welcome Office to assist you with everyday matters in your new surroundings.
