Assignment description:


The Mariner Project is a heavy oil field development on the UK continental shelf. The Mariner facility project consists of a large PDQ platform (process, drilling and Living Quarter), topside weight approx. 31 000 tonne, a jacket substructure, a ship shaped FSU for storage and offloading and infield pipelines and cables. In addition the field will have Jack-up assisted drilling for the first 4-5 years in operation. A light oil for dilution of the heavy oil will be imported. A new operation center will be established in Aberdeen. The project was sanctioned in December 2012, Topside and Jacket EPC contracts were awarded in December 2012 and first oil is planned end of 2016.

In the first three years in operation the production of gas will be higher than the demand for fuel gas. To reduce the need for flaring the excess gas a concept/feed study for electrification of the Jack-up rig by power supply from PDQ shall be studied and documented to a DG3 level. The electrification will require a separate frequency converter module, converting the frequency form 50Hz to 60 Hz, to be installed at the PDQ. A possible execution of the project shall be done as a separate modification project.

Electrical engineer will report to study lead. The following responsibilities and tasks will be included in the Job Description:

• Prepare SOW and study contract for the electrification study.
• Give input to and evaluate procurement strategy for study.
• Evaluate tenders for study contract.
• Follow-up of study contract
• Define possible pre-investment scope for tie-in preparation at PDQ and Jack-up rig.
• Interface activities towards relevant parties.
• Prepare a DG3 decision package within discipline.
• Possibility for multidisciplinary work.

Competence requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of experience from relevant study work.
• Good knowledge within the company’s governing documentation related to study work.
• Co-operational and communication abilities.
• Structured, systematic and target driven with well-defined goals.
• Multi discipline understanding.
• High HSE and ethical standards.
