Solvay Business Services (SBS) is the Solvay Group's global service provider. SBS provides it's services based on 4 End-to-End processes - Hire to Retire (HtR), Order to Cash (OtC), Procure to Pay (PtP) and Record to Report (RtR) - alongside a highly qualified Information Services (IS) team of professionals.

SBS currently employs a team of about 1900 professionals worldwide, 40 nationalities, distributed in 90 sites and 30 countries. We provide global services from 4 integrated Back-Office centers in Riga, Lisbon, Curitiba and Bangkok.

The Riga Office currently employs about 200 employees, working in an international environment where the official language is English and providing services in 7 other languages (Portuguese, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Russian).

This position is for the Record-to-Report team based in Riga and the main tasks are: 

  • Prepare and make postings in General Ledger based on month-end (year-end) closing activities identified in corporate closing calendar;
  • Ensure all relevant accruals are booked in a proper month;
  • Perform month-end General Ledger accounts reconciliations, follow-up and resolve reconciling differences;
  • Perform other General Ledger related activities, month-end reporting, if specified allocation run and upload to consolidation system;
  • Ensure that control narratives and manuals are updated when required to comply with Corporate Internal Control requirements;
  • Ensure proper escalation of issues to RTR Team Leads, RTR Supervisor or Country Accounting Manager;

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or Business & Management 
  • SAP accounting software proficiency is strongly required
  • Minimum of one year in accounting, auditing or finance positions,  preferably within a large international company   
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, basic IF formulas, etc.) 
  • Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong relationship building skills and a highly professional “client service orientation”
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of management 
  • Overall knowledge of IFRS / local requirements
  • Strong communicator in both oral and written settings, in English as a main business language 
  • Ability to work longer hours (4 times a month 16:00-1:00)
