The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Contractor. The successful candidate will join the Natural Resources Division within the Projects Department. The position of a Transmission Engineer would suit a motivated, practical and adaptable individual. Working in a dynamic team the post holder will deliver an annual maintenance programme on Electrical, Communication and Instrumentation (E,C&I) assets on the Natural Gas Network countrywide.  They will also deliver Capital Expenditure Projects where the network is upgraded or expanded.

 A candidate must be 

  • Computer literate
  • Team player, adaptable and practical
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well on own initiative

 Duties

The role of a Transmission Engineer within Murphy will require the individual to undertake the following duties: 

  • Plan and deliver work within time and budget while maintaining high safety, environmental and QA standards.
  • Ensure that all resources are trained and have an appropriate level of competence for all tasks undertaken.
  • Meet project KPI obligations.
  • Provide a weekly Cost and Value Report for return to Commercial Department for those resources under your control.
  • Maintain regular contact with the client’s operational and construction teams and keep them abreast of any changes in the maintenance or construction programmes on the network.

 Skills/ Experience

  • 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Electrical engineering background
  • Familiar with ATEX installations
  • SCADA
  • Industrial Instrumentation
  • Clean drivers’ licence
  • Some commercial awareness

 Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent a pre-requisite
  •  

 Working Conditions

Mainly office based with regular site and client visits throughout Ireland.
