Job seekers with the following professional qualifications will enjoy the best employment opportunities in 2023:

Specialists – advertising and marketing professionals, administrative and executive secretaries, stock clerks, accounting and bookkeeping clerks, social work associate professionals, nursing professionals, accountants, commercial sales representatives, social work and counselling professionals, primary and secondary education teachers.

Service sector workers and skilled workers – heavy truck and lorry drivers, shop sales assistants, cooks, car, taxi and van drivers, motor vehicle mechanics and repairers, tailors, dressmakers, furriers and hatters, bakers, pastry-cooks and confectionery makers, electricians, plumbers and pipe fitters, house builders.

Unskilled workers – cleaners and helpers in offices, hotels and other establishments, freight handlers, manufacturing labourers not elsewhere classified, kitchen helpers, sweepers and related labourers, civil engineering labourers, hand packers, shelf fillers, elementary workers not elsewhere classified, mixed crop and livestock farm labourers. .

Employers can also take advantage of labour fairs held at Client Service Departments of the Employment Service, which are attended by job seekers registered with the Employment Service, and so select suitable employees. In addition, there are various active labour market policy schemes designed to help employers find suitable candidates to fill vacancies.

Jobseekers with the following professional qualifications are least likely to find a job in Lithuania this year: specialists – translators, interpreters and other linguists, librarians, insurance agents, interior designers and decorators, legal and related associate professionals, journalists; skilled workers – security guards, cosmetologists, hairdressers, beauticians and related workers, florists and gardeners.

On 1 April 2023 the number of the unemployed in the country was 157 879 (9 % of the country’s working-age population), 23 162 job offers are registered in the Employment Service’s information system. According to the data of the Employment Services, in 2022 employers registered less job vacancies. Compared to 2022, the demand for labour decreased by 44,6 percent. The Employment Service specialists were able to offer more than 20,000 vacancies to jobseekers every month. Most of the new jobs in 2023 will be created in the services sector and industry. Lithuanian economy and employment have been growing steadily in recent years. It is forecasted that the economy of high technologies will grow, job opportunities will also increase for skilled workers and operators.
