Motivated by Christian faith, the Methodist people of Dublin have committed for over 250 years to providing shelter, support and care to the most vulnerable in the city. Dublin Central Mission has been the expression of that commitment for more than 120 years. Founded in 1893, Dublin Central Mission is now a limited company and a registered charity.

Our mission is Welcoming, Serving and Supporting those who need it most. All our services are provided based on need not creed. Our work has several streams:

Supporting the Older Person – we provide accommodation for Independent living with enhanced support for people over 65 at two locations – Margaretholme, Sandymount and Ailt an Oir, Glenageary – with more than 85 residents.

Serving the older person – Mount Tabor Care Centre, Sandymount – is a nursing home providing long-term residential care for the older person who is no longer able to live independently. It was opened in 1998 and has 46 residents.

Serving the city – Out centre in Abbey Street hosts 17 different self-help groups, English language classes for people new to the country, Open Doors mornings for those who have no place to go and regular evening runs providing friendship and necessities for those living on the streets.

We do all of this with a team of just over 100 staff and a small number of volunteers.
