SK Battery Hungary is being built on a 430,000 square-meter plant in Komárom, a city spreading in Komárom-Esztergom county about 110 km northwest of Budapest. We plan to start production in early 2020, and ultimately expect to supply 7.5 GWh of cells annually, enough to serve 250,000 cars. The lithium batteries to be produced in our new plant will be third-generation EV batteries, which give an EV 500 km range with one charge. And that’s not all. We will also start mass-producing the world’s first medium-to-large NCM pouches at a ratio of 8:1:1.
SKBH is a part of SK Group, South Korea’s third biggest company and a pioneer in the energy business. As the group’s first overseas battery plant, we have two goals in mind: grow big and get green. We’re committed to using SK’s hard-earned knowledge to find new growth engines, and ultimately become a truly technology-driven innovation company. This is an ambitious undertaking. And we cannot possibly make it a success without the right talents who share our vision. This is why we strive to build an environment that our employees can relate to and engage with, and one that’s just as much about community as it is about performance.
