THE CHALLENGE

Reporting to the S&OP Director, the Category Specialist will be responsible for defining and managing product categorization during the entire Product life cycle. 

Based on experience gathered in the industry and with a key interface role between Product Management team, Supply Chain & Operation/ Manufacturing teams, the candidate will plan and direct product segmentation in terms of volume and demand volatility as well as set in which supply chain ecosystem products will be managed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Evaluate product demand by channel and geography, based on knowledge of company objectives and market needs
  • Validate product segmentation and cascade the Make to Order and Make to stock strategy
  • Monitor volume, volatility, and substitution of product and establish strategy by category
  • Consult with product development personnel on product specifications such as design, quality, benefits
  • Establish plan and determine process to smoothly phase out products or move to slow movers category
  • Manage the criteria that sets if a product is worth introducing and also manage the criteria that distinguishes the categories
  • Be involved in new demand process in order to see the effect of additional volume on the product category
  • Establish product portfolio by category by region/country to balance customer needs, business objectives factoring in business model at regions/countries

 

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED:

  • You have minimum 2 years of experience in supply-chain, product planning, financial analysis, and inventory control or procurement specialist
  • You have strong analytical skills, critical thinking and curious
  • You are a proficient user of Excel, any knowledge of SAP & Oracle BEII would be an asset
  • You have effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • You are a team player, cooperative with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of employment
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
