National Oilwell Varco Inc. is a global, expanding and innovative company. We are about to establish an Engineering office in Lisbon and are therefore seeking to appoint talented engineers within the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation, Hydraulics, Structural Calculation and Software & Automation. Our aim is that NOV Portugal, which is a subsidiary of National Oilwell Varco Norway, shall have 70-80 skilled engineers before January 2014. The workplace will be at our office in Lisbon, working with our divisions in Norway.

HMI Design Engineer, Automation

Due to a large volume of work in the automation group, we are looking for capable and experienced HMI engineers within the field of automation. We supply both integrated solutions and free-standing equipment. The automation group works closely with other professional disciplines within ongoing development of existing products as well as the development of new solutions for the rationalization and optimization of drilling processes. We are now seeking HMI Engineers Automation who are able to work both independently but also in close cooperation with the SW responsible engineer, various disciplines and other members of the automation group.

Work assignments:
• Setup, program, modify, and maintain Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) applications such as InTouch
• Assist the automation department by performing routine engineering tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to; creating and modifying I/O lists, updates of P&ID´s, creating and utilizing sequence pin charts, and basic operations in spreadsheets and databases
• Maintain the software library, including logging incoming software, archiving old versions, and informing personnel as needed
• Perform minor Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming as needed. This typically includes straight forward or repetitious work, as well as data imports and exports
• Stay current with trends in the HMI and SCADA markets. This position is also responsible for keeping other team members informed of changes and problems that will affect them
• The HMI engineer will collaborate with the software responsible engineer for complete deliveries.

Qualifications and skills:
• Applicants must have a degree in automation, instrumentation, cybernetics or informatics. Higher education / technical college and relevant experience in offshore drilling-related activities are desirable.
• Knowledge of Siemens S7, InTouch, WinCC, SCADA will be an advantage.
• Personal skills/profile will be emphasized.
