Even though Finland can be very cold at times, luckily we will always have sauna. Generally Finnish people are shy, but when going to the sauna Finns are okay with being naked in the company of complete strangers. Sauna is best served near water, where you can dip in between “löylyt” or steams. It doesn’t really even matter if it is winter or summer – Finns like to jump in the refreshing lakes. You can get in the mood for sauna by reading more and looking at some beautiful photos here: https://www.visitfinland.com/article/join-the-finns-in-the-sauna/
Finnish language might be difficult to learn but you can always approach it with humor. Did you know that “Katos katos katos” is not just three of the same words combined? It actually means “Look, the canopy disappeared”. Learning a new language is always challenging and the most important thing is to keep it up once you learn a little – try to read the newspaper, listen to music or watch TV with subtitles in the language you are learning. Lighten the mood of language learning by visiting this amusing Facebook page about Finland: https://www.facebook.com/pg/veryFinnishproblems .
You must have heard about free healthcare in Finland. It isn’t actually totally free but the prices are very reasonable and you can even see specialist doctors if your situation calls for that. Finnish healthcare is available for every situation of your life – from childbearing to elderly care. You can read more on the subject here: https://www.expat-finland.com/living_in_finland/public_healthcare.html
