It is set to be a world-leading integrated resort and landmark for Cyprus and the wider region, offering a range of attractions and entertainment options including luxury accommodation, fine dining, recreation and MICE facilities.  City of Dreams Mediterranean is set to boost tourism in Cyprus, attracting an additional 300,000 tourists annually and contributing significantly to alleviate seasonality. During the construction phase, City of Dreams Mediterranean is expected to create an estimated 4,000 local job opportunities, and approximately 2,500 permanent jobs once open.

Melco also operates Cyprus Casinos in Nicosia, Ayia Napa, Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The VP, Hotels and F&B, ensures the quality of operations in product, service, process according to brand standards and image set for City of Dreams Mediterranean and the Melco brand.  Where and if relevant, ensures the attainment for Forbes and Michelin.  As a property executive committee member, this role ensures the overall commercial success of business results, governance, security & safety and all the key corporate programs which have made Melco stand out as an award-winning company.  Finally, main aspect of the role is to create a culture of service excellency, standard and experience aligned with the Melco brand of quality; create efficient service processes to ensure a seamless customer experience that creates loyalty. 

The VP, Hotels and F&B will oversee City of Dreams Mediterranean Hotel Operations, the largest Integrated Resort in Europe, with a total gross floor area (GFA) of 86,000m2, sixteen-story hotel tower with 500 five-star guestrooms and exclusive suites. The F&B offering consists in 7 world-class restaurants and bars. The Resort will also welcome clients in the Retail area consisting of 17 Shops -1,700m2 inspired by the streetscape of the old Nicosia

City of Dreams Mediterranean is proposing over 9,600m2 of Expo, ballroom, convention, meeting and pre-function areas, Spa, Adventure park, sports and leisure facilities, including tennis court, jogging trails, indoor/outdoor swimming pools and landscape gardens.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures a seamless and successful operation for City of Dreams Mediterranean which consists of a luxury hotel, multiple food & beverage outlets, and world class leisure facilities
  • Provides leadership and supports all related department heads in the achievement of their financial and operational targets through establishment of a positive culture, clear expectations, and policy and procedural implementation
  • Coordinates with other senior executives in a matrix organization so that overall corporate goals are achieved
  • Ensures consistent service culture, process, and quality brand standards are upheld, to deliver on the brand promise of COD Mediterranean
  • Drives revenue by working with the Sales/Marketing and relevant functions
  • Ensures proactive drive of managing efficiency and waste
  • Provides a leadership culture to create a healthy and productive working environment in which concerns are appropriately addressed
  • Ensures all duties are performed in compliance with department’s standard operating procedures
  • Identifies development and training needs in communication with other departmental executive members and works towards the evolvement of team members
  • Directs the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the Hotels’ and F&B Department’s annual Operating Budget and Capital Budgets
  • Actively involves self in various industry and community initiatives
  • Act as spokesperson for the COD Mediterranean and an ambassador for the brand
  • Participates in formulating and/or administering Company policies & developing long range goals objectives
  • Oversees all financial aspects of each hotel: P&L, CapEx, Forecasting and Budgeting

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a liaison between own division and other operating local operating units e.g. Gaming Operations, Corporate Office, Legal, Human Resources, and Finance. 
  • Develops and exchanges ideas, suggestions and comments between own division and the Corporate office
  • Acts as a role model and provides guidance on company culture, including company vision, mission and values. 
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards company, Department, Team and Colleagues

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • 5-10 years working experience in a General Manager capacity in an international five-star Hotel or major luxury hotel brand(s)
  • Strong operational and hands-on experience is essential in leading all functions of a hotel management, with personal experience in rooms operations, F&B and Retail.
  • Pre-opening experience much desired; but not essential
  • Working Experience in Europe is essential, and experience in Greece or Cyprus is highly desirable

Education & Qualification

  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related field is highly desirable, but not essential. 
  • Demonstrated success of individual’s operational & management experience in running premium luxury hotels coupled with large scale resort operations
