R&D is a core function at Qlik, developing our world class QlikView product – the Business Discovery solution. We have experienced rapid growth and to meet the needs of current and future customers, R&D is continuing to grow year on year. The role of Interaction Designer is instrumental to meeting the increasing number of requests for new features, higher quality and new products coming from our customers.

As part of the R&D organization, and our growing UX practice you will be in a unique position to impact the future direction the product takes. With over 31,000 different customers across the globe you will have access to a rich user community to help inform your decisions. Our highly collaborative environment means you will be working with a diverse group of talented people continuously innovating and improving on our products. You will work across the entire life-cycle of a product from user research and requirements gathering, through ideation, sketching, prototyping and user testing.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and users through a wide range of methods such as interviewing and work-shopping to gather requirements and iterate designs
  • Actively work with other members in the UX team to come up with design guidelines that will apply to the overall development project.
  • Creating sketches, storyboards, mockups and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas based on concepts and design guidelines for the project.
  • Rationalize design decisions to stakeholders and peers.
  • Design of the UI elements within the QlikView product suite.

Requirements:

  • Drive – ability to take decisions, initiatives and getting things done.
  • User understanding - Ability to understand who the user is, what needs and requirements they have and the natural behaviors they exhibit
  • Conceptual modeling - Creating high-level design solutions and systems based on user understanding.
  • UI design - Design of the user interface components and how they work together.
  • Communicating design - Creation of design artefacts to share and increase understanding.
  • Creative – an innovative thinker, with the ability to think “outside-the-box” to find creative solutions to the problems our users ask us to solve
  • Teamwork for result in a high pace environment.
  • Communicative – ability to describe complex problems to others, to listen and involve others in discussions, ability to tailor technical information to different audiences. Includes presentation and writing skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility.
  • Strong interaction design skills.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in a user experience or interaction designer role 
  • Experience using agile software development methods like SCRUM or Kanban is required
  • Ability to create interactive UI prototypes using Flex, JavaScript or similar tools would be an advantage
  • Experience or interest in data visualization and statistical analysis tools would be highly beneficial
  • Excellent knowledge of usability and user interface best practices
  • Experience of social media tools, web 2.0 and mobile devices is an advantage
