The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic organisation and be part of a multidisciplinary team, that continues to develop its services in conjunction with Brothers of Charity Services Policies. There maybe promotional opportunities available for suitable candidates.

 

STAFF NURSES - Ref: 02/2021

Permanent Full-Time / Part-Time and Temporary Full-Time/Part-Time and relief hours

Residential Services (Cork City, suburbs and Bandon/Innishannon area)

 

We are also seeking to establish a panel from this competition for qualified Nurses preferably Registered Intellectual Disability (RNID) to cover permanent and temporary (full-time / part-time / relief) (day and night) vacancies that may arise in our Residential and Respite services, in Cork City, suburbs and Bandon/Innishannon area.

 

The Role

As part of a team, provide holistic support to people with an intellectual disability in their residential service, day service and within their community. The person/s appointed should be flexible in their approach to service provision and should have the ability to work as part of a team. They will be required to take an active part in ensuring that the day to day operations of the service reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity and that the needs of the individuals they support are met through Person Centred Planning.

 

The Candidate

  1. Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.

Candidates must:

  1. Have a relevant nursing qualification (preferably Registered Intellectual Disability - RNID) & registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland - (NMBI) - An Bórd Altranais or be entitled to be so registered;    and
  2. Have the clinical and administrative capacity to property discharge the functions of the role.
  3. Post holders must maintain annual registration with An Bord Altranais
  4. Possess a good knowledge of Intellectual Disability
  5. Demonstrate initiative, good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  6. Have experience of working with people with an intellectual disability / autism
  7. Have a minimum of 1 year’s post registration experience working in the Intellectual Disability Sector
  8. Possess a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads

 

Age

Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004).Candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.

Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Salary Scale:  €30,609 - €47,431 per annum   (1/10/20 PSPP Consolidated Scales) Pro-rata for part-time hours)
