What you will learn and contribute to SoC EDA tools flow owner

The SoC DFTP (design flows, tools and processes) Squad Group defines, develops and manages MN BB&SoC  SoC R&D design methodologies, EDA tool flows, and processes for RTL design entry and RTL verification. We're looking for an Electronic design automation (EDA) tool Flow Owner for SoC  ASIC and FPGA hardware design and verification tools flow, methodology, tools and processes development and deployment.

The EDA tool flow owner works in close co-operation with SoC DU EDA Global Concept Owner (GCO) concentrating is/her effort to EDA tools methodologies, flows and processes. The main task is to develop, deploy, and maintain the SoC DU R&D EDA flow and a flow owner is closely following technical development on EDA tools. A flow owner is responsible of road-mapping new development items further the study and ensures that new EDA tools methodology development initiatives are executed together with SoC DU R&D organization. A flow owner participates with own strong contribution to process and methodology development, and manages and coordinates the development initiatives and projects. Meanwhile SoC EDA GCO is working in budgeting, creating visibility on current status, forecasting coming neds, contacting R&D projects and users, planning tool roadmaps and having main responsibility to vendor relationships.

Development and deployment of the methodologies includes tasks to ensure that correct tools are in use in SoC DU organisation with sufficient amount and type of verification tool licenses available for SoC DU R&D use. A flow owner is responsible about development of the internal documentation and instructions, and providing trainings for end-users together with vendors. End-user support and alignment between different projects and SoC sites are important part of the role.

A flow owner is also participating to handling SoC DU EDA tool vendor relations in his/her flow competence area. On top, limited participation to an actual project work is also possible in order to keep a technical expert’s own competencies up-to-date.

A candidate has to have strong knowledge and hands-on experience on hardware EDA tools. Also an experience in RTL design and verification related HW continuous integration and automation is a clear benefit.

Your skills and experience

Preferred skills

  • Strong background and knowledge in EDA tools and EDA tools management
  • Deep experience of EDA Tools license management and tool trainings
  • Experience of working and co-operating with EDA Vendors
  • Deep knowledge in HW Platform environment.
  • Capability to support EDA tool budgeting and capacity calculations
  • Tool evaluation experience
  • Knowledge of ASIC hardware design flows, design methods, design tools and design processes
  • Capability to develop flows, processes and methods relating to the tools and tool usages.
  • Strong willingness to improve verification flows and methodologies
  • Strong commitment to plan, pilot and deploy new EDA tools to R&D use
  • Knowledge of LSF computing cluster administration
  • Deep experience of interaction with internal and external EDA stakeholder

Additional Requirements

  • Strong experience in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
  • Drive to provide excellent end user support
  • Ability to provide documentation relating to EDA tools
  • Pro-activity, problem solving and communication in multi-site R&D environment
  • Project management skills
