As a Senior Manager you have an important role in developing and managing South Pole's activities around sustainable funds and platforms for the land use sector, particularly in the global south. You will focus on developing and managing an innovative fund for corporate sector actors, public donors and other funders and investors that seek to invest in sustainable land use, particularly in global supply chains. You will develop a strong network with key stakeholders in the corporate sector in Europe, as well as project developers in the global south. In this role you will actively engage in building partnerships, networking and securing new funding.

 

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop new business for an innovative land use fund
  • Oversee the development of winning proposals to raise new funding in Europe and globally. Clients would include corporate and public sector actors as well as other types of investors
  • Lead the design of the fund's governance and management structure
  • Manage a fund on sustainable land use and forestry, supervise teams as part of these mandates
  • Responsible for the overall profitability of the fund
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as investors, project developers, partners and government officials

 

Your profile

  • A Master's degree, ideally with some post-graduate work in Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or sustainability-related disciplines
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in financial industry consultancy, investments, research and/or business development
  • Previous experience of managing internal and/or external collaborators on specific green finance and/or land use mandates
  • Demonstrated, familiarity with land use and forestry, sustainable finance, impact investing and/or Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) related topics
  • Specific experience with climate change adaptation and/or biodiversity is an advantage
  • Track record of acquiring and/or managing budgets of over 500k EUR in size
  • Excellent oral and written command of English, professional proficiency in other national or regional languages is of advantage
  • Proven ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English
  • Strong technical and financial expertise on investments, project implementation and business development
  • Commercial skills and good business sense to be able to identify and seize opportunities in a fast-paced and competitive market environment
  • Network with financial industry, land use projects, potential clients (including corporates) and other relevant stakeholders
