Senior Engineer Power Electronics Design (f/m)

Your responsibilities:

  • Design and development of power electronics building blocks to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability
  • Running power electronics building blocks design simulations in Matlab-Simulink, PLECS or in a similar simulation tool
  • Perform worst case analysis and simulations to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Specification of key power electronics components and datasheet analysis of parts, considering lead time, availability, price, alternatives and qualify the components to meet specifications
  • Testing the power electronics building blocks in the laboratory within the specifications (snappy behaviour tests, heat run tests etc.)
  • Loss analyses and thermal modelling for the power electronics building block and defining the requirements for cooling-unit
  • Develop and maintain electrical DFMEA
  • Working closely with supply chain and partners/suppliers
  • Innovation on new technical ideas for patent applications
  • Writing technical design reports 

Your profile:

  • PhD or at least MSc degree in Electrical Engineering with a very good power electronics theoretical background
  • At least 5 years of successful working experience in power electronics converter modules hardware design, development and testing (preferably in modular converters)
  • Knowledge or understanding of medium power and medium voltage design and control issues
  • Experience in the area of power electronics control and protection coordination studies
  • Knowledge of IEC/EN Standards and how they apply to designs 
  • Proven technical report writing skills and keen to progress your career in a technically driven multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to undertake technical reviews of technology with engineering experts
  • Strong work ethic to support teams design efforts but also ability to work independently
  • Self-motivating, proactive and results driven approach
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause identification skills 
  • Advanced English language skills, additional German skills are a plus
