Position objective:

The Production controller role includes overall ownership for financial costing and accounting/reporting processes used at the plant, while building and maintaining strong relationships with the (plant) leadership team.



Specific areas normally include maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management's attention, the preparation of financial reports and the presentation of findings/recommendations. The production controller maintains processes and procedures in production controlling in teamwork with the ERP key users.

Key responsibilities:

Controlling and reporting

  • Develop, maintain and (continuous) improvement production controlling of the plant
  • Responsible for complete and accurate daily, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Analyzing of budget vs actual costs; providing explanation on financial figures
  • Calculate financial and operating metrics
  • Project control; monitor, track and manage existing and new projects
  • Assist for accurate and timely month end and year end closing
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, etc
  • Identify process gaps, savings, propose and implement solutions
  • Setting up and review of costs in cooperation with other departments

Knowledge/experience: 

  • 3-5-year relevant direct accounting or finance work experience in a manufacturing or re-manufacturing environment
  • 3-5-year experience in production controlling 
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as applicable
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems 
  • Knowledge of country and local financial regulations for Latvia 
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting
  • Good working experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Good working experience with ERP systems, SAP experience is a preference, esp CO/FI, MM, PP, AM, IM+ data collection systems

Education requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. University degree is preferred

Special skills:

  • Fluency in Latvian as well as the English language
  • Strong analytical and proven statistical knowledge and experience
  • Excellent communication skills
