Description des tâches: The selected candidate will more specifically join the Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnologies research group, which among others develops monitoring tools for microbial contamination in the environment and studies the effectiveness of various antimicrobial compounds as well as the environmental application of probiotics. The successful candidate should have experience in the isolation, physiological characterisation and mass culture of microorganisms isolated from the environment. Your main missions are to: • Characterise microorganisms isolated from the environment in their ability to compete with pathogens either through ecological interactions such as competition, toxins/antimicrobial compounds production or biofilm development • Culture these microorganisms at different scales from vials to bioreactors • Develop adequate formulations incorporating microorganisms in cleaning solutions • Determine the safety and viability of the formulation over time During the course of the project, you will have to :: • Work autonomously on the tasks cited above and report on due time to allow the different partners to use to results for other tasks • Disseminate, valorise and transfer RDI results (patents, publications, technical reports, participation in conferences, etc.) • Actively collaborate with other researchers in order to promote interdisciplinary activities internally and externally Études: Niveau d'étude demandé egal Doctorat Métier / domaine de formation: • PhD in industrial microbiology or related disciplines Required seniority Required qualifications include at least 2 years of professional experience after PhD, ability to work with a team and ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders. • Excellent writing- and reporting/presentation skills (scientific level) • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with the proven ability to effectively communicate across different levels of the organization and with customers • Customer and result oriented attitude • Able to adapt to changing priorities according to the results of the project • Willingness to work collegially in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment Autres compétences: The candidate will preferably have hands-on experience in applied microbiology (culture of difficult-to-grow bacteria), molecular microbiology (sequencing, basic bioinformatics) and industrial microbiology (bacteria culture in bioreactor).
