Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor & Team Leader, the Metal Fabricator will work as part of the production team of Fabrication Technicians, Metal Fabricators and Welders to produce high quality steel components. The purpose of this role is to support OCE production management in achieving OCE’s growth plan in line with the Company’s values, mission and vision.

 

Direction for the role:

  • Read and interpret 3D models and technical drawings to fabricate steel components,
  • Take measurements to ensure accuracy of fabrication,
  • Produce high quality fabricated metal components,
  • Cut, bend, drill, fold steel as required,
  • Tack weld components,
  • Operate power, hand tools and machinery to complete jobs,
  • Work to timelines set by production management,
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards set for the role of Metal Fabricator,
  • Maintain PPE compliance,
  • Maintain a clean and organised work station,
  • Ongoing quality control checking of own work,
  • Take part in any training required for the fulfilment of the role,
  • Ensure all works are being carried out in line with company and client requirements,
  • Compliance with ISO9001:2015 and EN1090.

Competencies for the role:

To ensure the direction outlined above is achieved, the metal fabricator must possess the following competencies:

  • Proven experience of metal fabrication working from 3D technical drawings,
  • Demonstrable ability to read and interpret 3D technical drawings,
  • Proven ability to tack weld steel components,
  • Recognised experience in a manufacturing or production environment,
  • Efficient work-flow, time and project management skills,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player,
  • Flexibility to move between projects and ability to multi-task.
  • Basic IT skills.

OCE implements BIM, Building Information Modelling, across its fabrication processes. The metal fabricator will be required to work from 3D models and soft copy GA drawings. Previous experience in similar work would be beneficial, however not necessary as training will be provided.
