Job offer description

Within the product development department we are looking for a ‘ Mechanical Design Engineer’ to join the centrifugal team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining centrifugal products and technology. Developments can be starting from a blank paper to upgrading current products as well as searching for innovations together with the R&D-cell and external parties like universities.

The team oversees the entire process from research, design, testing prototypes and entering serial production.

Our aero and mechanical calculation engineers know how to simulate & predict the machines behavior, but your job is to bring the designs to life. With your 3D insights, innovative approach and precision you make 3D virtual models and drawings, which are of course producible and cost-effective. You help to optimize the simulation process.

You are the owner of the design and you can coach/delegate part of your work to other designers. Together with sourcing and the supplier you discuss your ideas. You design for manufacturing. When prototypes are made or internally parts are machined, you actively participate, collect feedback and guide your colleagues. You want to make your hands ‘dirty’ when your next prototype is assembled, so you’ll have the best feedback to further improve your designs.

Within a product development team you will work together with specialists from different disciplines like aerodynamic engineers, mechanical engineers, designers, structural engineers, rotordynamic specialists, test engineers, project managers, software engineers…

Profile:

Knowledge

•Knowledge about mechanical components, design standards and construction methods (seals, drive trains, fastening techniques, ISO/DIN…)

•Knowledge about both conventional as state-of-the art manufacturing methods (machining, casting, additive manufacturing…)

•Broad material knowledge (metals, plastics, composites…)

•GD&T

•Experience with 3D modelling software like CATIA is a plus

•Experience with PLM software like Enovia is a plus

•Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus

Educational requirements

Master (of Science) in Mechanical Engineering (industrieel of burgerlijk ingenieur) or equivalent by experience.

Personality requirements

•You can think on an abstract level about mechanical designs and ‘feel’ how they behave

•You enjoy working in teams within an international and multidisciplinary environment

•You work as an engineer and you bring solutions. You are able to keep focus on the important things. You have common sense.

•You have a critical mind, you work accurate and take initiative

•The dynamic environment of product development energizes you

•You are flexible and think outside the box

•You are challenged by complex problems, but you like simple and elegant designs.

•You are eager to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest developments and industry trends

Offer:

  • Diversified tasks with a broad range of development opportunities at a constantly growing and innovative global player

  • Support and possibilities to grow in your career

  • A familiarization phase of several months with support of an experienced mentor

  • A good work-life balance

  • A competitive salary with benefits package

  • The possibility to participate in our car or bicycle lease plan and to join several sport clubs
