Description of Role: 

National Vehicle Distribution (NVD) Ltd are currently recruiting for several HGV Mechanics and Shift Leader / Supervisor’s to join our team in Baldonnell, Co Dublin.

Requirements: 

  • Hold a formal qualification ie; National Craft Certificate or City and Guilds Level 3 in vehicle repairs or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience with the maintenance of HGV trucks and trailers.    

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works closely under the supervision of the Workshop Manager.
  • Jointly supervise and carry out a productive role in HGV planned maintenance, corrective repair events, CVRT fleet preparation, modification activities and after-hours breakdown management. 
  • Closely monitor and assist with the trainee mechanics and general operative’s skills development and performance. 
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of our 5s workshop cleanliness standards.
  • Carry out quality control checks on both work in progress and completed jobs.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to all staff.
  • Review KPI furnished data from the Workshop Manager, monitor KPI screens & work closely with staff to ensure all agreed KPI are met.
  • Maintain usage control on all equipment, spare parts and consumable items.
  • Attend daily brief with the Workshop Manager to report any issues and assist with the forward planning of the maintenance program.
  • Provide a stand-in cover for the Workshop Manager when necessary.

 

Job restrictions

Candidates must have a post qualification work experience in HGV Mechanics. Ideally, experience working on trucks.
