(Hands-on) Java Lead - Team 10-15 people - Relocation package provided

We are looking for an hands-on Java Lead to manage a Java Engineering team of 10-15 Java Engineers.

As Java Lead your report directly to the Director Engineering.  



Tasks and responsibilities:

• Building, managing and growing a Java Engineering team of 10-15 Java Engineers;
• Defining onboarding processes;
• Organizing meetups and conferences at the office;
• Enabling your team members to achieve career and personal growth through one-to-one meetings, coaching, mentoring and supporting them where needed;
• Arranging the necessary trainings and conferences to foster this growth;
• Conducting yearly evaluations;
• Collaborating closely with the recruitment team to hire engineers;
• Being an active member of the management team;

As hands-on manager, you:

• Formulate, suggest and develop new ideas and features to further improve our products;
• Discuss technical solutions with your colleagues and the architecture team where necessary;
• Together with the other developers in your team, you implement new functionalities with a passion for quality and demo fully finished parts;
• Actively take part in the Backend Engineering Community of Practice;

Profile:

• Bachelor or Master degree;
• 6+ years of experience as a Java Engineer;
• 2+ years of experience in a management position;
• Hands-on person who still wants to help develop the product;
• Passion for quality, good design and clean code;
• Knowledge of relational databases (preferably PostgresQL). All additional database technologies (graph databases, big data stacks, …) are a great advantage!
• Experience working with Hibernate, Spring, IntelliJ IDEA IDE. OSGi and database model optimization are a huge plus!
• Strong architectural knowledge;
• Coach people and let them grow;
• Fluent in English;
