Our goal is to study the assembly of genetically engineered silk proteins into materials. The work builds on our previous success in constructing new materials such as silk-cellulose (www.aalto.fi/en/news/a-combination-of-wood-fibres-and-spider-silk-could-rival-plastic). Research is carried out at our excellent facilities at Aalto University, School of Chemical Engineering (http://www.bioeconomyinfra.fi/). The laboratories are situated on the main campus of Aalto University in Otaniemi (short metro-ride from Helsinki) within the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems (http://bio2.aalto.fi/en/).
Your roles and goals:
As a Doctoral Candidate you will complete a 4-year doctoral study program at Aalto University. You will work under the guidance of experienced advisors to perform top-level research on molecularly engineered silk. Techniques such as recombinant DNA, protein expression, and biophysical characterization will be used. As a doctoral student you will be employed at Aalto with a salary according to our regulations.
