.Oticon is looking for a Digital ASIC Designer
Do you want to work with the most advanced technologies alongside colleagues, who are best in class? How does working in an agile team with a large degree of knowledge sharing sound to you? Finally, do you want to work with us in making the lives of millions of people worldwide better? Then you should join us!
Our wireless team consists of eight developers. We are now looking for a new colleague to support us to develop state-of-the-art digital ASIC components for our market-leading hearing aids with a special focus on our 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Smart systems.
To create the world’s best hearing aids, we develop world class Internet-of-Things chipsets that run for weeks on very small batteries, while performing complex audio processing and communicating wirelessly on multiple wireless systems. That is why IC design is a core competence at Oticon. We deal with the newest IC technologies and we place emphasis on a professional and innovative working environment.
The technical challenge: Design of ultra-low power components
In your new job, you will become part of Oticon’s Wireless team, where you will develop digital solutions for Bluetooth Smart wireless standard and proprietary protocols with focus on the link layer and radio controls based on our 2.4 GHz silicon radio.
The components you are going to develop are characterized by extremely low power consumption and high inerrability, and they need to be easily produced in large volumes. To achieve this, we constantly push the technology to its limits and focus on smart design.
You can look forward to being involved in all phases of the development and design from pre-study to evaluation of the final IC. Thus, you will be involved in analyzing concepts, defining requirements for digital components, design, documentation, verification with low level FW/SW and lab testing etc.
We are looking for someone who has interest in working within the split between the analogue and the digital HW domain and FW. You should be comfortable with writing the RTL and driver to test it.
Along the way, you will have close contact with product development to ensure optimal
utilization of the digital component. In this way, you will gain insight into the practical implementation and application of our ICs.
Could it be you?
In order for you to succeed in this role, you need to have a good knowledge of ASIC and IC design flows in combination with a real passion for this field. You may either have worked a few years in a business where the focus is on digital IC design and wireless communication (preferably 2.4GHz BLE) or you have a Ph.D. in wireless communication and IC design.
Furthermore, you are familiar with the following:
General IC design, HDL coding, preferably Verilog and Synthesis experience
Design in a SoC ASIC Design flow, preferably Synopsys
Verification at all levels e.g. RTL, formal, gate and in the lab
Programming and scripting languages e.g.java, python, tcl
Personally, you are the type of person who sees the benefit in cooperation and mutual knowledge sharing with your colleagues, and you have a positive attitude. You work well in an environment based on trust and a high responsibility for your own designs. You have a sense for details while still being able to meet your deadlines. You are able to handle several tasks simultaneously without losing the overview. Depending on your expertise in one of the fields above, you will be expected to drive the effort within your special field in addition to IC design and verification. In this sense, you are not afraid of speaking up, bringing in your own initiatives, sharing also critical feedback and taking over responsibility.
