Cowper Care is inviting applications for the position of Clinical Nurse Specialist – Infection Prevention & Control. 

The appointee will undertake the role and responsibilities of this position and assist the Head of Services – Care in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and standards published by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Reporting to the Head of Services – Care, the Clinical Nurse Specialist – Infection Prevention & Control will manage the activities of the Infection Prevention & Control programme and provide professional / clinical leadership in the designated area(s) of responsibility and deputise for a Care Manager if required. The post holder will lead a Rapid Intervention Team within our Group in the event of a Covid-19 or other infectious outbreak. There is an element of weekend working, on-call and travel within the greater Dublin area involved in this post.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a registered nurse on, (or eligible to be on) the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI.
  • Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum 5 years’ post registration nursing experience, with relevant experience in the specialist area.
  • Must have nursing experience to include experience in a nursing management post or posts in an acute hospital / relevant healthcare setting.
  • Must have a Post Graduate (Level 9) clinical qualification in Infection Prevention & Control and should have a Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent or be prepared to acquire same within a defined time frame.
  • Experience of working in a JCI (Joint Commission International) accredited facility and an understanding of that process would be an advantage
