The Business Development Manager’s main role is to support Product Management in creating long-term value, e.g. developing sustainable and profitable products and value propositions, translate the overall Ikano Bank strategy into tactical and operational actions and identify new growth opportunities in our existing markets, ensuring our competitive position.

To gain success, the candidate must have a broad knowledge across countries, business areas, products and channels, be able to think out of the box, be passionate about understanding customer needs and accordingly develop great value and customer experiences, be innovative in value creation and new business models, future-oriented, have a robust, systematic and proven development methodology and strive to make great results.

This position will be part of the Commercial Team and be based in Lund reporting to the Head of Product and CVP Management.

 

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve value propositions, products, service and channels leading to more Sales. This means contributing in identifying the opportunities and developing the various commercial activities, i.e. gathering input and market knowledge, assessing the opportunities, testing feasibility, defining and producing product requirements, crafting initial business cases, etc.

• Work closely with Product Management, Business Line Management and Branding in establishing Product strategies and Product development plans and supporting the functions in gathering and creating knowledge based on customer feedbacks, market trends, exploring learnings from previous products and projects, exploring opportunities in the business lines, etc.

• Overall responsible for the “innovation methodology” to be used in Ikano Bank, i.e. establish structured working methods for the development area so that the function can deliver high quality outputs and build solid cross-functional procedures when it comes to developing value propositions.

• Be the main responsible for facilitation (and the process) in the initial ideation phase and create a proven toolbox to ensure the right cultivation and clarification of ideas.

• Contribute to the development and refinement of the Bank strategy in coordination with Commercial Development, the bank’s Management Team and other business functions to ensure effective internal alignment and competitive market positioning. Support Commercial Development in scenario planning.

• Attend events and conferences etc. in order to keep abreast of changing trends in the market and hereby understand implications and identify new business development opportunities in line with the strategy. You will act as a catalyst of future trends, providing feedback and information on these to both the Commercial Development Team as well as the local markets.

• Responsible for finding new innovative ways of including our customers through-out the whole development process, hereby validating our design assumptions as we are building the products. This could imply the establishing of customer panels as a crowd sourcing tool.

• Defining and Leading the initiative of fostering a more innovative culture in the whole bank. Among other this Program should engage and urge all colleagues to take a more active commitment of the future development of the business, making it fun and part of the culture to influence and bring forward the many good ideas that resides within the business.

• Work closely with both IT and Operations to be able to design best in class value propositions.

• Participate in the project work related to the developing activities to make sure that we realize the initiatives in the way intended.

• Lead the work of establishing a KPI framework for the development process, measuring quality, development pipeline strength, etc.

 

Required profile and qualifications

• We expect a bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years working experience with a strong background from a business development function within the financial services Industry.

• You should be able to spot opportunities, conceptualize them, creating profitable business models and executing on them.

• You need to have a profound commercial knowledge but with a solid understanding across functional disciplines, e.g. IT, Finance and Operations.

• You need to be relentless when it comes to customer focus and how the bank can add value to our customers.

• By nature you are future-oriented, but at the same time understanding the importance of challenging, driving and developing the daily business.

• Key competencies: Relationship builder, make things happen, ability to take ownership and responsibility, able to operate at all levels (strategic, tactical and operational), curious and want to challenge the “as-is”.
