Work location is our innovation centre in Skejby just outside of Aarhus.

The job

The Channel & Digital Development Director reports to Global Head of Food Service. It is a new role resulting from Arla’s growth ambitions and the new Director will be responsible for driving the global Food Service channel and the vision and strategy of our digital operations and commercial excellence. The Director will have global leadership for key channel and customer development, marketing operations, digital development and commercial excellence.

There is a  team of 15 reporting directly to the new Director.

The responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that key channel strategies are developed and executed in line with business priorities
  • Ownership and delivery of the Food Service global digital strategy, incl. development of excellence in Customer engagement (Direct to Chef programme, eCom solutions, etc.)
  • Support to Key Account/Customer Development
  • Development of Commercial Excellence function that scopes and delivers prioritised capability platforms with specific focus on Distributor/Wholesaler development
  • Direct accountability for Marketing Operations/Execution in key markets including direct leadership of market teams
  • Key contributor to global go to market strategy development and also ensure alignment with markets on their specific strategic plans
  • To manage the Customer/Category/Channel Insights function – optimising their effectiveness and value add
  • Leading a group-wide community of best practice and functional leaders to facilitate rapid and effective learnings and sharing

The candidate

The right candidate for this challenging position demonstrates 10+ years of leadership experience from a global FMCG organisation – ideally including foodservice or on trade. You have a well-rounded commercial profile from different jobs in Sales and Marketing, strong channel understanding combined with in-depth experience with wholesalers, go to market solutions, customer accounts and negotiation. Ideally you have worked across a number of countries and have therefore developed a cultural sensitivity. Sales coaching and people development  has been instrumental in achieving your goals.

You are able to take ownership and have strong skills in managing across the organisation and navigating among different views and agendas – always with a clear aim to define and drive best-in-class performance. You build relationships across countries and functions thanks to the combination of  your skillset and experience together with your strong intellect and constant drive to add ambition – balancing patience and impatience.
