Job Title: Accounting Assistant Bank Reconciliation

Reports to: Supervisor IC & Cash & Banking

Group / Division: Global Business Services

Position Summary:

Due to expansion, we have an excellent opportunity for an individual to join our Bank Reconciliation Team based in Budapest. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Global Business Service in an organization considered a global leader in its field which offers great career development and opportunities.

The Centre provides financial partnership in the EMEA region for two of the Thermo Fisher Scientific groups.  We are responsible for a large number of entities within that portfolio and work to strict corporate deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages specific bank accounts throughout the month, ensuring all entries posted either manually or automatically, investigating and resolving any differences.
  • Works with Accounting teams to clear cash in transit accounts.
  • Works with Accounting teams and Treasury to ensure mapping rules are set up correctly.
  • Performs balance sheet account reconciliations for bank accounts; researches and resolves any reconciling items on a monthly basis.
  • Performs balance sheet account reconciliations for cash in transit accounts; researches and resolves any reconciling items on a monthly basis.
  • Processes Intercompany recharges in a timely and accurate manner resolving any issues.
  • Reviews and clears aged intercompany AR items >60 days.
  • Agrees on Intercompany AR balances with the appropriate counterparty for month-end close.
  • Books any month-end adjustments as required to reconcile intercompany relationships.
  • Prepares and agrees on Intercompany netting payments with the counterparty.
  • Processes Intercompany netting payments and allocate any payments/receipts on a monthly basis.
  • Assists the Sarbanes-Oxley team with walkthrough and control testing performance and coordination.
  • Supports requests from external and internal auditors as well as various groups companywide.
  • Completes special projects as requested.

Skills Required:

  • Highly motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent communication, computer and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail as accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (e.g. SAP) - desired but not essential.
  • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in high volume environment.
  • Previous experience in a large scale organization would be beneficial.
  • Fluency in English.
