Kristinestad - Finland's first Cittaslow town

Kristinestad (or Kristiinankaupunki in finnish) is a en safe, cosy, multilingual place for work and living. Here you can have both nature, seaside and countryside close by, as well as versatile opportunities for spare time activities. In Kristinestad we have quality of life and many different kinds of living.

The city of Kristinestad has about 480 employees in different lines of business, which all have the goal to develop the municipalitys' services and operating methods. Kristinestad as an employer wants to invest in developing our staff's skills and well-being. Of all our staff, 48 % works in the field of care, 36 % in the field of education, 12 % in the technical sector and 4 % within the administration. The town is bilingual and the administrative language is swedish. We are a smoke-free workplace.

Kristinestad, founded in 1649, has centuries old traditions as a marketing and trading town and a distinguished shipping history with its ship- and boatbuilding traditions. Kristinestad is a member of the Cittaslow-network, which goals include improving the quality of life in towns by slowing down its overall pace, especially in a city's use of spaces and the flow of life and traffic through them.
