This goal is best achieved by considering the overall performance of the façade, with the selection and specification of the appropriate materials and with the robust and efficient detailing at all interfaces.

Techrete are embarking on a new project on novel architectural precast concrete panels which will require an additional team member to conduct testing, analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate would have a scientific background and good report writing and research skills. They would also have a high degree of computer literacy and a very good understanding of excel as they will need to produce data files for analysis.

Reporting to the R&D Manager, the Junior Construction Materials Analyst will be responsible for data collection, background academic and industry research and preliminary analysis and reporting. They will work closely with the R&D lab technician to ensure test data is reliable and procedures have been followed. They will have the ability to present results in an eligible format to the R&D manager and provide a preliminary layer of analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The impact of different chemical admixtures on fresh and hardened concrete properties.

  • The impact of different sands and aggregates on compressive strength and workability

  • The feasibility of incorporating recycled material into concrete products

  • The use of mortars for brick pointing

The Junior Construction Materials Analyst will also work on developing a database of technical information on all materials used and prepare a procedure for ensuring targets are met when procuring new material. They will be responsible for documenting and recording the time and work conducted including meeting minutes.

  • Analysis and reporting on concrete batching data.

  • Analysis and reporting on routine testing.

  • Investigation and market research of different sands, aggregates and other concrete constituents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERTISE

  • Practical Laboratory testing experience

  • Intermediate level of IT knowledge

  • Very high level of proficiency with MS Excel and Word

  • A level 8 degree in science or engineering.

  • Experience working on concrete and/or construction

  • Highly organised and exceptional time management

  • Analytical skills

  • Knowledge of applying scientific methods
